Spicy meatballs with mint joghurt

Hungarian cuisine is not that far away frrom the arabic one  as you would think for the sight. Long time ago we were in the same empire with Turks (but mostly it was an invasion) for 150 years which is enough to learn a lot from each others culture. It is interesting that we have still few words which sound exactly the same in both langugage and we still use them. E.g. eggplant = padlizsán. Therefore I mixed our traditional meatballs with arabic spices and just to make it fresher added some joghurt.

Ingredients - 4 servings
500 g minced meat ( I used beef, but it works with lamb and pork too)
1 big onion
2 gloves of garlic
½ tablespoon of paprika powder
1 pinch of cinnamon
½ handful of parsley chopped
1 level teaspoon of salt
A big pinch of pepper
Oil

3 dl of plain joghurt
1 handful of fresh mint
1 teaspoon of crushed cummin
1 level teaspoon of honey
Salt
Pepper

First dice garlic and onion and saute them on low temperature with oil then let them cool. Mix the minced meat with paprika powder, cinnamon, parsley, salt, pepper, onion, garlic and a little bit of oil to make them easier ball shape. With wet hands make small or bigger balls as you want and fry them on a hot pan with oil. They are done when they turn to golden brown on the sueface. Just to make sure cut one ball half for checking.

Then mix joghurt, chopped mint, cummin, honey, salt and pepper. You can serve with arabic bread, pita and some grilled veggies :)

Good apetite!
